Secondary Action

Secondary action is very similar to overlapping action but there is a vital and distinct difference between the two.

While overlapping actions are directly related to the main action (i.e. they are a result of this main action) secondary actions occur independently of the main action.

An example of this is Lola Bunny in Space Jam, she is bouncing the ball independently of her running/ moving, this is a secondary action, whereas her ears moving as a result of her body moving would be an overlapping action.
